A mesmerizing evening of vocal and instrumental music inspired by the modes and odes of Greece, one of the world's most ancient and fertile cultural crossroads. Ethnic string instrument virtuosos Ross Daly, Kelly Thoma, Kaila Flexer, and Gari Hegedus are all gifted composer-performers who draw inspiration from melodies and rhythms rooted in the musical traditions of the Mediterranean and Near East. Kitka has earned international acclaim for their fresh perspective on centuries-old harmony singing traditions of the Balkans. Kitka will perform material ranging from haunting ancient polyphonic songs from Epirus to lilting dance tunes from the Greek Islands. The Oregonian has described Kitka's unique and emotive sonority as "bliss in a minor key."
